Welcome to Outcomes Readers!
Welcome to those who read my article in the Outcomes magazine Fall 2009 issue. On this page you will find information and resources about online ministry, including links to resources mentioned in my article. My passion is to see the Church use technology to reach the world for Christ. Whether you are a large church, a small ministry, or an individual, my goal is for you to learn how to use Internet technology to its maximum potential. On this page I have put together some links to provide you with some additional resources and insights for your online ministry – I hope you find them helpful. If you are interested in knowing more about me or my company, genesys11, check the About page of this web site. You can also read my latest thoughts on my blog.
On this page you will also find information about you can partner with me and my company, genesys11, on Internet ministry projects. If you or your organization are looking to launch (or re-launch) all or part of your online ministry, we are available to help. This month we are launching the Internet Ministry Partnership Project (IMPP), an online education effort that will give you a flexible, inexpensive way to develop a strategy for your online ministry. For more information on IMPP, see below.
If you feel that you need more assistance than IMPP can provide, please contact me about developing a more direct relationship. I am currently looking to partner with one or two ministries on Internet strategy development and implementation. More information on this is given below.
Here is what you can find on this page:
- Information on how you can work with me to develop and implement your Internet ministry strategy.
- Information on the online education project mentioned in the article: The Internet Ministry Partnership Project.
- Information about my “best practices” research project and a link to my report.
- A link to my Internet ministry strategy worksheet.
- A link to my 30-minute Skype interview with Shane Hipps discussing his book The Hidden Power of Electronic Culture.
- A link to my online bookstore, where I have several recommended books related to Internet ministry.
Work with genesys11 to Develop and Implement Your Internet Ministry Strategy
Whether your organization is struggling to get an online ministry started or if you have been doing it for years but feel you need a change, I am available to work with you to move you forward. I have time to work with one or two clients this fall in one or more of the following ways:
- Workshop. I will come to your site and hold a one-day workshop that is focused on developing a customized Internet ministry strategy that is right for you.
- Research. I can work with your organization on one or more research projects to help you understand what Internet technology solutions would be most effective.
- Consulting. I can work directly with your organization to develop and implement an Internet ministry strategy. This generally takes several weeks to several months and is a combination of in-person and virtual meetings.
Please contact me at dave (dot) bourgeois (at) genesys11 (dot) com or call me at 657.46.gen11 (657.464.3611) if you want more details on how we can work together.
Develop an Online Strategy: The Internet Ministry Partnership Project
The Internet Ministry Partnership Project (IMPP) is an online educational web resource designed for Christ-followers to come and get advice, answers to questions, and practical education in their quest to use the Internet and new media in ministry. Whether you are involved in a ministry organization or just want to do online ministry as an individual, joining this partnership will provide you with support, encouragement, and real hands-on help as you work to use the Internet to fulfill the Great Commission and the Great Commandment. The IMPP is primarily designed for ministries with few or no resources – ministries who cannot afford to hire their own consultants or buy software. The materials provided are given with the assumption that budgets are limited (or nonexistent!) and that many of the participants are working alone.
The first course being rolled out is Internet Ministry Strategy Development – in this course you will be guided through the process of creating an online strategy for your ministry. For the month of September, 2009, this course is available for preview – and a $100 discount . For more details on the IMPP, including its costs and specifics on the educational materials available, please visit http://genesys11.com/impp.
Best Practices Research Project
The first research project’s goal was to understand the current state of Internet ministry and answer the questions “what is working?” and “what is not working?”. From November 2007 to April 2008, over 300 ministries took the survey and reported on how they were doing Internet ministry. From the data collected, a series of “best practices” were developed matching ministries who reported success with their Internet presence with answers to the survey questions. I presented the results of this research at the Internet Ministry Conference in October 2008. Click on the link below to get the research report. I also wrote a series of blog posts on the Church Marketing Sucks blog, here are links to part 1, part 2, and part 3.

Developing an Internet Strategy
I have developed an Internet Strategy Worksheet for ministries looking to develop a strategy for how they will be using the Internet. The philosophical foundations mentioned in the Outcomes article are incorporated into this strategy. This strategy is based upon work done by Dayton and Fraser and updated by Viggo Sogaard.
Interview with Shane Hipps
In January of 2009, I interviewed Shane Hipps about his book The Hidden Power of Electronic Culture. I did this as a way to gain insight into the book for the students in my Internet Ministry course at Biola University. I have also shown this video as part of my “God in the Tubes” workshops that I held in Indiana in March 2009. I have been receiving quite a bit of positive feedback about this video (a recorded Skype phone call, actually) and so I recently asked Shane if he would have a problem with me making it available for others to see. He has given his permission, so I am making it available, at least temporarily, on my genesys11 web site.
Books
Many of the components of my foundational principles mentioned in the article were supported and refined through the thinking of others. My genesys11 “bookstore” on Amazon lists all the books that I feel can be useful for ministries looking to put together an online strategy.
