I've found dealing with TurboTax "customer support" worse than dealing with the IRS!

They insist that you allow their program to go online whenever it wants, and make downloading updates to their program manually difficult (when it should be very easy). The actual processes took a few seconds, but the headache of entering in all kinds of personal data just to get to speak with a real person (who then asks for all sorts of other personal info) is a pain in the behind.

They actually warn you that it is going to take "HOURS" to download things, and "45 minutes" on hold to speak with someone. The waiting was seconds to download and a few minutes to speak with someone. They really don't want to deal with you is my impression.

They guard their 800 number: 1-800-854-3970 by making you fill out forms to find it, and then require an "incident" number to talk to someone. This is not "Customer service" it's "customer avoidance" at it's best.

Their programs are great and ez to use. I wish they actually cared about fulfilling customer service.

Now, I'm concerned about my tax return. This is my first year filing taxes using TT. I downloaded it from their website and electronically filed my taxes. I did itemize for charitable contributions, but now I just have a weird feeling about filing using TT. I don't think I'll do this again. This isn't good for TT. With as crazy as the IRS is, I don't think people want to take chances.

Mark -

I would think so as well, except that my version of TT did not have any place for me to enter deductions. Once I downloaded the update from the TT web site, it worked fine.

I actually received a vioce mail message asking me to call Turbo Tax because of errors. The 888 number matches nothing on their web page and Im suspect this is some phishing scam for my important information. I downloaded all updates prior to using TT and already received my refunds. Maybe this is for real but I am suspect it's a phishing scam.

Mo Mo - that's just it. I DID update my software when I first installed it last week - it was fully up to date! I sent in my problem report to Intuit after an hour of searching for the deductions feature and it took a week for the fix to be available.

But here is the key point: THEY DID NOT HAVE THE FEATURE ENABLED AT ALL! How can you release tax software that does not have the ability to itemize deductions enabled in the first place? What other features are not working?

No way. Who in there right mind wouldn't update the software the second it installs? When I installed mine 2 weeks ago the first thing it wanted to do was go out to the Internet to update which it did. If people aren't updating their software then they probably shouldn't be doing their own taxes.
